Dear Downeast School Families,
Beginning this year, when schools close due to inclement weather, students are expected to continue their education at home by working on learning packets. These learning packets have been developed by classroom teachers and specialists.
Your child will be given three days of learning packets. When school is cancelled, please have your child open packet #1 and complete the assignments. These assignments will be returned to the classroom teacher when school resumes. The remaining packets will be used for additional snow days. (Students returning completed packets will be marked present for the school day.)
Living in Maine, we can expect schools to be closed during the winter months. However, schools also may close due to non-weather related events such as illnesses and power failures. In these unexpected closings, these packets can also be used to continue each student’s learning.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
